Apollo 18 (2011)

Directed by Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego

Possible Spoilers

Apollo 18 tells the story of the 3 astronauts who went to the moon and the reasons why we never went back. The film is supposed to be found footage that has been released as to make the film feel real much like The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity and, one of my favourites, Rec.

This film just doesn’t have the same scare factor or reality to the other films that have all previously used the concept of found footage. The film’s special effects look ok and could be believable as real footage and the acting was mostly ok however the directing of the film just didn’t seem right. It was slow in places and contained a possible plot hole.

There was nothing new in this film that we haven’t seen before and it could have been a lot better had we seen more, watch the film and you’ll see what i mean. The plot hole at the end could be worked around but it still lends to the fact that the direction and writing of this film wasn’t correct and should have been worked on a bit more considering the teasers and trailers we got before the film’s release actually showed real promise.

All in all I’m glad i watched it and if you are a fan of the scary found footage films i would recommend watching it, maybe not in the cinema, but just don’t expect to see anything new or exciting.

Film Fact

All footage from the film was supposed to of been cut down from 10 hours’ worth of real found footage which was all uploaded to www.lunartruth.com. This site does not work amid rumours that NASA has had it removed……
